Audition Information
Auditions for the 2001-2002 season will be held at Dobson High
School, 1501 W. Guadalupe Rd., Mesa, Arizona, according to the
following schedule:
VIOLINS:
September 4, 5, 6 & 7
4:30 P.M. - 9:00 P.M
September 8
8:00 A.M. - 5 P.M.
VIOLA, CELLO, BASS
WINDS & PERCUSSION:
September 8
8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
Audition Requirements
- A short prepared, unaccompanied solo (or a portion of a longer
piece) of the student's choice (Memorization is not required.)
- Scales (major) in as many octaves and keys as possible for the
student's individual level. Scales need to be memorized and played
in eighth notes (quarter note = 60)
- Sight reading (furnished by adjudicator)
- Percussion students should furnish their own sticks,
mallets and snare.

The deadline for early registration is August 24, 2001. To
schedule your audition time, complete this form and mail it with your
audition fee to the address below.
Audition fee: $10.00 (checks payable to METROPOLITAN
YOUTH SYMPHONY)
Late audition fee: $15.00 ($10.00 + $5.00 late fee if mailed after
August 24th deadline)

the application deadline
Please check your calendar before mailing in this application. If
you have a conflict with any date or time scheduled for auditions,
you must include a note specifying the conflict. No changes will
be made (except in case of emergency) after audition times are
assigned.
