(Click on project names for maps and photos)
| Project | Fort Valley |
| Location | 2 miles NW of the Museum of Northern Arizona between Schultz Pass Rd. and the Snowbowl Rd. |
| Activities | Mechanically (heavy machinery) thinned 300 acres of demonstration and research thinning units.
Thinning slash (debris) that was piled is to be burned when sufficient snow is on the ground this winter (at least
12 inches). Thinning slash that lays scattered on the ground may be burned after the next moisture event about
.20-.33 inches of moisture is desireable. Other projects authorized include an additional 1,700 acres of thinning using various methods, meadow and spring restoration, road and trail relocation and closures, and aspen enhancement. Free use firewood permits have currently been suspended due to seasonal closure for firewood gathering. Free use permits will be available in the spring of 2000. |

| Project | City of Flagstaff |
| Location | Throughout Town |
| Activities | In 1999, approximately 700 acres were thinned in over 60 sites. In addition, over 200 acres were treated with prescribed fire. 450 cords of firewood were distributed to local citizens. Consistent with the City's Land Use Development Code, the goal is to reduce wildfire danger and improve forest health in order to create sustainable forest environments. Treatment areas were located on private, business, city, county, and state property utilizing private vendors, volunteers, and the Fire Department Fuels Management Crew. |

2000. Thinning work has been completed on about 200 acres. Thinning and burning will continue in 2000. |
