Scope of ServiceSince its inception, For the Birds has been the largest provider of care for wild birds in Arizona, giving a second chance to more than 4,000 birds each year.Federally licensed for wildlife rehabilitation and education in Arizona, For the Birds volunteers provide in-home care for all species of orphaned and injured wild birds in the Phoenix and Prescott areas. Working with the Sedona-based Icarus Facility, For the Birds receives songbirds from Sedona, Flagstaff, and the Verde Valley as well. In turn, Icarus provides optimum care for many of our birds of prey in an environment designed for their specific housing and rehabilitative needs. Our Board of Directors includes several veterinarians who generously donate their time and lend their expertise and skill to save many lives through diagnostic procedures and surgeries.
For the Birds espouses a humane ethic and provides permanent sanctuary for birds unable to be released back into the wild. For the Birds is a member of The Association of Sanctuaries, an organization that accredits sanctuaries that maintain high standards of care for captive wildlife.
