The CallingMost of the birds we receive are orphaned or injured through unnatural causes such as tree-trimming, guns, cats, dogs, windows, poisons and automobiles. Life sustaining habitat is rapidly decreasing as we encroach further into the deserts and forests, stripping native vegetation and displacing wildlife through development.
Focusing on wild bird behavior, dietary and habitat requirements and the relationships between flora and fauna in our natural world, our educational efforts address the choices we make and the actions we take that affect our environment and its inhabitants. For the Birds encourages understanding, appreciation and protection of wild birds through volunteer presentations to schools and other interested community groups, booths at community events, publication and distribution of educational literature and our quarterly newsletter, On the Wing, as well as through our 24-hour phone system.
