Endurance Flight 1949 Logo

The Yuma Jaycee Foundation was formed in 1972 with a portion of the proceeds of the sale of the former Yuma Jaycee Rodeo grounds at the corner of 16th Street and Arizona Avenue, in Yuma. The normal function of the Yuma Jaycee Foundation, is to monitor the funds, and by law, make donations to needy organizations, and individuals, for scholarships, etc, and for other 501C(3) organizations needing funds.

The Foundation itself doesn't normally take on projects. This airplane is something the Foundation undertook for the sole purpose of presenting the plane that held the world record air time, in 1949, to the city of Yuma. The Foundation voted to take on this project, purchase the airplane in the Midwest, bring it back to Yuma, refurbish it to original condition, fly it "one more time", and present it to the City of Yuma, for the purpose of placing the plane in a museum or showplace, so the general public could see what an accomplishment setting this record must have been.
