What is Partners?

Partners in Policymaking is an inovative training program that teaches people to be community leaders. This program is designed to provide information, training, skill building and resource awareness to persons with developmental disabilities and parents of children with developmental disabilities to become better policy advocates. Partners provides participants with opportunites to meet and talk to national leaders in the field of developmental disabilities.

Participants will have an opportunity to meet with others who have similar concerns and unite to form a powerful voice on important issues. Participants can learn how the legislative process works at the local, state, and national levels. The goal of this training is to develop partnerships between the people who need and use developmental disability services, and those people in positions making policy and law.

Who Should Apply?

  • Adults who have a developmental disability

  • Parents of children ages three and under

  • Parents of school aged children

  • People who have had minimal advocacy training or experience.

Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.
Only those individuals selected to participate in Partners in Policymaking will be able to attend.
